14.

The road to “hell” is well paved as it is constructed by materialism. This road
is hard and straight with high banks on either side. It is well maintained and
much used. But this road has its toll booths, not only at it’s beginning and it’s
end but also has innumerable booths along it’s entire length. It’s for those who
are in a hurry to reach their goal, the goal of mythical success. The road to
paradise, however, meanders through lush green pastures, unfortunately is less
worn and therefore less distinct. It affords expansive views and has no tolls to
be paid. It is paved with love and happiness. This is a road one would hope
would never end as it gets better and better. This road is so smooth that one
hardly realises they are moving forward to their destiny. It is the road to
infinity, and to the infinite God. It is the road only the spiritual can travel.
Viewed from the earthly perspective, the material road is the obvious choice, it
is clearly mapped out for you by the society to which you have been sold into
by your upbringing. You have been trained to take that road and discouraged
from taking any other. Now we have drawn your attention to this matter you
will begin to realise that indeed there is always another way. Initially your ego
consciousness will refuse to see it, and with the assistance of those similarly
unaware acquaintances, you will have your closed thinking endorsed, and
become totally blind to any opportunity of there being an alternative way and
you succumb to the “have to”, and the “one and only”. Take the example that
is often encountered in life, You need to travel to a far off destination. The
question is posed, do you take the highway or the byway? The factor of time
comes into the equation, what time do you have to arrive at your destination?
And then the question we would put to you is, do you even know where your
destination is? The more modern the road the faster it will be, but is the
vehicle you travel in built for such a speedy road, will it last the journey? Is it
fit for the purpose your narrow thinking seeks to subject it to? Your body is
not designed for such stress and pressure and though it might take you to
where you think you need to go, it will not take you to your true destination.
