In the 6 century AD a Syrian monk created the
hierarchy of angels and this was adopted into Christian
doctrine. In the Middle Ages, and until the Renaissance, angels
acquired a greater importance in the eyes of men and finally
became the title that referred to the spirit protectors, guides and
helpers to humankind.
We can now understand the stance that the
communicator of the opening statement takes into how present
day humankind uses the term angel to introduce “acceptable”
teachings into this world because they have come from an
“angel”. If the teaching has true validity it will make sense and
stand on its own truth without the need to be supported by the
ambiguous notion that it has been brought by a ‘messenger of
God’.
