AUTISM in MALAYSIA
Autism is a lifelong development difficulty that affects how an
individual relates communicates and interact with people as
well as how they perceive the world around them. AUTISM affects
1% of the world's population. According to the centre for disease
control (CDC) Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring
(ADDM) Network and prevention in United States, autism affects
an estimated 1 in 54 children.
Recent statistics show that there are approximately 300,000 peo-
ple living with ASD in Malaysia. Autism is a developmental disabil-
ity that needed urgent support. According to NASOM (National
Autism Society of Malaysia) about 8,000 to 9,000 children are born
with autism every year.
