I. The fundamentalism that evolution’s sex imperatives apply in the extreme only to animals, but that human love is mostly a mental/spiritual event.
Though the majority of Americans believe in evolution,4 from my experience, few believe that human sexuality is greatly influenced by evolution.
Or if they do, they don’t apply this belief with any rigor to themselves. Instead they bubble over with a heartwarming, but thoroughly obfuscating, contention that love is a pure and spiritual blessing. It has little
to do with down-and-dirty pig gruntings or big-horn sheep ruttings or peacock struttings. Or if it does that’s just a minor part of it.
This assertion is truly amazing, especially for those who claim great faith in evolution. If you really believe in evolution, you might assume you’d believe that
