And these tendencies apply whether there’s a baby involved or not. Regardless, individual choice can be as powerful as any evolutionary, chemical or mental instinct. The point
is, it takes a lot more effort to prevent the relationship possibilities from overcoming the relationship reality than it did before the 50% divorce rate.
If your relationship is anywhere near good, it’s usually worth it to make what may be the immense effort to stay where you are. Then again, it may not. In which case, you hurl yourself into the wilderness of new relationships never knowing where you might land.
It may be in STD, STE, psychosis, neurosis, poverty, depression, or status-symbol land. It may be to relative ecstasy.
Can anyone argue that many people lust after movie stars? Without that lust the soft and hard porn industries would be much smaller. Also, that married people lust to such an extent that even one of our
most righteous of Presidents, Jimmy Carter, had to admit to lusting in his heart. Whereas many other presidents, from Thomas Jefferson to William Jefferson Clinton, lusted outside their hearts. That is they were adulterously bigamous or polygamous.
Another factor is the above-mentioned divorce rate. This will be discussed later, but suffice it to say that
