love you have with your lover is not as personal as you thought. But it’s gratifying to know that if this love falls prey to the 50% breakup rate, that evolution may help you, nay impel you, to fall in what feels like one-and- only love with someone else.
In other words, your drive to mate is so powerful that unless your breakup was so painful that you’re now afraid to mate again, you can mate again. Evolution wants you to mate, and its doing all it can to help you mate. It is employing powerful chemicals, immense mental constructs and who knows what else to get you to reproduce. And because of that, your new mating can attain the same or similar transcendence of what you felt was your one-and-only before.
Or maybe you don’t achieve the same level of transcendence, but a fairly good level. Don’t denigrate that level. And realize that what may be preventing you from taking it to the one-and-only level is your big romantic brain that has irrationally locked on the previous, lost mate.
