Lesson 6.6: Methods of Defueling

Vehicle-to-Vehicle ▪ Pressure reduction strategy only
Transfer ▪ Transfers fuel from one vehicle to another
o Must have defuel port
o Transfer hose components
✓ High-pressure conductive hose
✓ Defuel nozzle
✓ Fuel nozzle
✓ Vehicle must be grounded
▪ May not totally defuel vehicle

Compressor Inlet ▪ Transfer fuel back to CNG station
Procedure ▪ Storage vessels must have room to accept the fuel
▪ Follow defueling panel operating instructions
▪ Compressor must be on

Vent-to- ▪ Requirements
Atmosphere o Check with local air quality board
Procedure o Requires:
✓ Grounded, sealed connection
✓ Pressure regulation
✓ Fire extinguisher
▪ Two-inch pipe
▪ Equipped with valve and regulator to control flow
▪ Gastight connection to cylinder
