Module 5: CNG Fueling Station Safety Systems and Fueling Practices

                Module 5: Knowledge Check

At a CNG fueling station, the most important safety device you should be able to identify is:
                □ Fire extinguisher
                □ Protective eyewear
                □ Emergency Shutdown Device
                □ Dispenser

Emergency Shutdown Devices are identified by what?
                 □ Warning light
                □ Yellow placard
                □ Red placard
                □ Blue nozzle

Different types of CNG fueling nozzles can be rated for different pressures. Which of the following is correct?
                □ Blue indicates 3,600 psi; Yellow indicates 3,000 psi
                □ Blue indicates 3,000 psi; Yellow indicates 3,600 psi
                □ Blue indicates liquid fuel; Yellow indicates gaseous fuel
                □ Blue indicates 5,000 psi; Yellow indicates 7,500 psi

If you are fueling a vehicle and find damage to any hose or nozzle, you should:
                 □ Fuel the vehicle anyway and do nothing else
                □ Fuel the vehicle and then report to fueling station maintenance personnel
                □ Attempt to repair the hose or nozzle yourself
                □ Not fuel the vehicle under any circumstances and report the problem to fueling station maintenance
                   personnel

When fueling a CNG vehicle, the following conditions are normal:
                □ A small amount of gas may escape the nozzle/receptacle connection when they are disconnected, and you
may be able to detect the smell of gas for a brief period of time.
                □ A continuous loud hissing is present during and after fueling
                □ Large quantities of natural gas can be seen and smelled leaking from the dispenser hose.
                □ There will be total silence during the CNG fueling process.
