Module 8: LNG Vehicle Systems and Safety Practices

Internal Check ▪ Located inside plumbing manifold on tank
Valve ▪ Provides 2 psi back pressure
                                  ▪ Assists Pressure Control Regulator in rapidly
                                    reducing tank pressure

             Engine Coolant Heat
             Exchanger

                                  ▪ Uses heat from engine coolant for warming
                                  ▪ Warms LNG, changes state from liquid to gas

LNG Over-Pressure ▪ Regulates maximum pressure to engine fuel
             Regulator inlet
                                  ▪ Typically set at 125 psi
                                  ▪ May be externally adjustable

Automatic Fuel ▪ Shuts off fuel to engine when ignition is off
Shutoff Valve o Activated by sensor
                                  ▪ On integrated tanks
o Valve is either located directly after the fuel vaporizer/heat exchanger or after
                                         the overpressure regulator
