hours or even weeks before it comes together. At first you may think, !It can"t be this, it"s too simple; it"s too obvious.” Disregard that thought. When it does come it will be obvious and it will be simple. Most great thoughts and ideas are obvious and simple. Every word must fit. If even one word feels wrong, take your statement apart and come at it again until you get it.
Ben’s Story
Ben attended one of my workshops. He surprised himself when, not long afterwards, he chucked up his career as a financial analyst, raised $300,000 through grants and sponsorships and opened a high-class bakery staffed, more or less exclusively, by people in their early twenties who"d served time in prison.
A couple of years later he asked if he could speak at one of my workshops for a few minutes. He arrived looking sharp and fit, his hair cropped short. A very different looking person from the overweight man in a baggy blue jumper with grey hair that I remembered.
!Ben?"
!Not bad for a forty-four-year-old ex-tycoon!” he said,
beaming.
!Fantastic,” was all I managed before he squeezed the life out of me in a bear hug.. He introduced himself to the group then told them this:
