How can a good lawyer make this whole
process easier?
Many lawyers just send you a bunch of forms
to fill out. The forms exist so that they can take
the information, plug it into their database
which then drives a template. That template is
something that they present all the time.
Essentially what they've done is shift the labor
to the client for the creation of the data that
goes into the templates. We don't really use one
or two form templates. We have base language
we use as the foundation of our trusts but we
tailor each to the client's particular needs.
Nearly all of our trusts are different in some
significant way from any other trust we have
done.
We have some recurring solutions that clients
really like. For example, there is something we
refer to as a "stay at home" trust. A “stay at
home trust” is when mom and dad decide that
they want to let their children have access to
their inheritance after they've passed so that
they can raise the grandchildren with the stay-
at-home parent. Son or daughter gets to have
access to the inheritance to the extent of some
percentage of their prior income if they stay at
