Democratic Forum
What’s the hottest topic of the day? Is it gun safety, Biden’s approval
rating, immigration and open boarders, inflation? Has climate change
become a political issue? Does Trump have any real GOP contenders?
On June 7th we’re bringing back our extremely popular Brown Bag
Forum. We’ll pick a handful of sizzling hot topics to discuss in small
groups and then air them in the full forum. So, bring your lunch and
prepare to engage in some spicey debate. The meeting starts at 1:00PM
in the Wellness Room at The Retreat.
In July, come celebrate the 4th with us on the 5th at 1:00PM! Our Post- Chili Booth at the October SIG Open House and our Bake Sale and Hot
Independence Day party includes a complete catered lunch with all the
fixings including baked and fried chicken, potato salad, 3-bean salad,
green salad, baked beans, rolls and chocolate or carrot cake. Space is
limited so RSVP early by contacting Audrey at 916-740-2619 or
renoacr@gmail.com or sign-up at our next meeting. The cost is only
$12.00 per person. Sign-up deadline is June 28.
And don’t forget, the Placer County Democrats are having their annual
fundraising dinner on June 10th at the Timbers. U.S. Senate candidate
Rep. Katy Porter will be their featured speaker. For more info go to

The Democratic Forum meets on the first Wednesday of the month at
1:00PM and the club’s steering committee meets on the second
Wednesday at 2:30PM. All are welcome.

The Digital World Club’s next meeting will be held on Wednesday, June contagious as laughter!"

It’s all about Good Health! The June meeting will cover the use of the
health benefits of wearing an Apple Watch and the use of the Apple
Health app to monitor your fitness and health. This presentation will
mostly be an interactive workshop/round table. Be sure to bring your
iPhone and wear your Apple Watch if you want to participate in this
valuable session.
The Digital World Club (DWC) meets on the second Wednesday of the
month at 10 AM, typically in the library (at The Retreat). Get on the
DWC email list to receive information about our monthly meetings and

Hand and Foot
Hand and Foot is a card game played
Fridays at The Retreat, from 2 pm
until around 4 pm. Cards are drawn
prior to playing to determine who
plays together. (Players should arrive
by 1:50 p.m. in order to draw cards so
that play can begin by 2 p.m.)

Helping Hands 2.0
We had a fantastic turnout for our Queen for a Day in May
Fashion Show and Luncheon. Over 200 residents and their
guests filled the Timber’s Ballroom. Thank you to all who
attended and to all those who generously donated their gifts and
time. We had 40 great raffle baskets and as a result we sold 2600 tickets
at $1 each! A record amount! We are still calculating the results, but
we definitely made a big profit and we’ll be sharing this with the local
charitable organizations we will choose at the end of the year after our
Dog Lunch at the Craft Fair in December.
The Helping Hands team was phenomenal and seamlessly brought you
the best event ever. And we’re already making plans for next year!
And there was a Queen for a Day! Shannon was chosen for the tireless
work she does for all of us at the Club and always with a smile. She
received a standing ovation from the guests and a jewel studded crown
and long-stemmed red roses.
Coming up this summer we will be deciding on a new format for Coffee
and Chat, based on the input from our residents at our meeting earlier
this spring.
We have been sending out lots of cards lately, mostly due to Covid and
flu infections. As many of you know, when notified, Helping Hands
sends cards to those residents of The Club who are ill, had surgery, been
hospitalized, or experienced a death in the family. These cards are
lovingly handmade by several of our residents. PLEASE EMAIL
rbevmumm@gmail.com so we can send a card which will be so
appreciated by the recipient.
Line Dancing
"Sometimes your joy is the source of your smile, but your
smile can be the source of Your joy. There is nothing as
Line Dancing meets on Fridays at 12:00 noon in the

Mah Jongg
MAH JONGG IS PLAYED ON TUESDAY AFTERNOONS FROM 1-4
P.M. AT THE CLUB.
Mah Jongg is a game of skill and luck played with tiles and a card with
set hands with three to four people per table. We play the American
version on the current 2023 card which is ordered from the National Mah
Jongg League.
Come and join us! It's a fun afternoon of playing with and meeting and
making new friends. Experienced and beginning players are welcome.

Orchid Group
The Orchid Group will not be meeting in June. Our next meeting will be
July 14th at 1:00 pm at the Retreat. However, that doesn’t mean you can
sit back and ignore your orchids. If you want your orchids to bloom
again, Spring/ Summer is a busy time. Most orchids need more humidity
as our climate warms up and dries out. You can use an evaporation dish
humidity. If the temperatures increase where you grow your orchids, you
