Blanca McKilligan moved to our Del Webb Community 10 months ago. She relo-
cated here from Fairfield after her husband
passed away. Her son, who lives in Granite Bay, helped her get settled into her new
home on Benton Loop. Having moved into our community during the pandemic
lockdown, it was initially difficult to meet new people or participate in activities. As
an accomplished artist, she keeps occupied by painting pictures. The many beauti-
ful paintings on her home’s walls reveal stories of her life and travels.
Blanca is originally from Bogota, Colombia. There, she received her degree in
Physical Therapy and had a career as a physical therapist with Kaiser Permanente for
over 20 years. Blanca has lived in California much of her life. She has 3 children
and 3 grandchildren.
From an early age, Blanca has shown talent in painting. Her passion has been in the
arts using all mediums, especially oil and acrylics. She has taken various painting
classes that include Greek Orthodox, portrait and figure painting. Blanca and her
husband travelled extensively throughout Europe with goals to visit the art galleries
and museums and study the master styles and techniques. Being influenced by the
impressionist artists, a lot of her work depicts the style and colors that impressionist
artists used. Blanca has exhibited her work at Fairfield-Suisun Visual Art Associa-
tion and Vacaville
Blue House.
Now that activities have resumed at the Clubhouse, Blanca is proposing to
form a new Special Interest Group for the artists in our community. This
would be a chance for artists at all levels to meet and independently paint
together.
