WHATS UP?

           Appearing overhead The Club occasionally, the Italian-built Piaggio P180 “Avanti” executive/business jet has seating for
            up to nine people. First flown in 1986, it has a small canard wing at the front of the cabin, the main wing at the rear of the
                                                                                                                 cabin, and a “T” tail. The twin
                                                                                                                 turboprop engines are in pusher
                                                                                                                 configuration, facing backward
                                                                                                                 on the rear of the main wing.
                                                                                                                 The location of the propellers
                                                                                                                 and the engine exhausts are said
                                                                                                                 to provide a quieter cabin,
                                                                                                                 though from the outside the air-
                                                                                                                 craft provides a higher pitch
                                                                                                                 sound, which some claim is a
                                                                                                                 noisier and/or more irritating
                                                                                                                 sound than conventional turbo-
                                                                                                                 prop aircraft.
