crucified at just the age of thirty-three for
FEAR that he and his message would destroy
the Roman empire.
• Many people ignorantly supported legal
segregation for FEAR that African Americans

would take jobs from non-African Americans
and would ruin American life as they knew it.

FEAR is an unpleasant emotion that is caused by
believing that the future is going to be worse than
today, and something or someone is a direct threat
to you or has the ability to hurt you. Fear kills joy,

extinguishes hope, and reduces your ability to think
logically. When you are wondering if a serial killer is
in your basement, it makes it hard to sleep. When you
are wondering if you forgot to turn off your oven, it’s
really hard to enjoy your beachside tropical vacation.
When there is fear, there is no peace.
Now, before we go any further, I do have to make
a big ask from you. Yes, I realize that we’ve just met,
but could I have your undivided attention for the

next two hours please? Pretend that reading this
book is like going to your favorite theater (before
the quarantine began) and you are being asked to
