Why we need
your support
Heriot’s provides specialist bereavement, pastoral and financial support for
local children where a parent has died.
Heriot’s is committed to growing the Foundation, however the number of
children who benefit from Heriot’s bereavement expertise and wider support
is severely limited. Currently, there are 62 Foundationers in school - just 3%
of those learning at Heriot’s. The primary limitation preventing this number
from growing is the lack of available funding.
It costs £820,000+ to fund Foundation places every year, of which 90%
comes from school fee income; longer term we seek to raise enough money
to fund Foundation places in perpetuity.
If the Foundation were to fail financially, it would have a significant impact
on school life. Many parents choose Heriot's because of its charitable heart
and the diversity of its pupils.

The Foundation400 campaign will ensure increasing numbers of children Foundationer, 1970
can access vital support, enabling them to flourish in the face of adversity
and achieve their dreams. The sooner we accomplish this, the more children
can benefit from the opportunities Heriot’s can offer.
