myself in the assembly hall, staggered after
hearing the House Captains’ speeches, and
afterwards said to myself, ‘I want to be one of
them in P7.’
After an amazing P6 year, P7 was an even
more exciting and unforgettable. As soon as I
was announced house captain of Raeburn, I was
delighted. I still recall sitting on the chair doing my
speech to the Junior School via Microsoft Teams
(which was pretty strange), heart pounding,
putting forward my speech to everyone.
Being a House Captain has been a remarkable
experience. It has helped build my confidence a
bit more, become more ambitious and improved
my leadership skills (and of course receive a shiny
badge). Even though Covid-19 restrictions limited
House Captains’ duties, it was still a wonderful
experience, adding the rainbow day points and
others. Being chosen as Raeburn’s House Captain Hannah Law and James Tan

I joined the school in Nursery and have loved
almost every day since then! I have made lots of
friends and have taken part in many fun events,
trips and competitions thanks to the school. The
ones that really stand out for me are the charities
fairs, the trip to York in P4, the trip to Lendrick
Muir in P5, the ski weekend in P6, and getting a
special mention from Mr Morrison for my Elton
John outfit in the fashion show in P5. I’m sad that
we missed out on some of the final school trips
because of Covid-19 but hopefully we won’t have
to do home schooling again!
Ever since P1 I have been a proud member
of Greyfriars and have watched the new House
Captains give speeches in assembly. I always
wondered if I would ever present one myself and
I am so pleased to have that chance this term.
