The Fridge
Inspired by Turkish poet Edip Cansever’s The
Table.
The old timer walked into the utility room.
He felt like a pencil being sharpened.
He put the liquid nitrogen in the fridge.
He also put a tub of ice cream in the fridge.
He put a balloon in the fridge.
He put down some memories too:
The time he was knighted by the Queen.
He put down sounds too:
The sound of bubble-wrapping,
And the smell of cake wafting to his nose.
He also put down some things that happened in
his mind
A light bulb. An idea.
He also put in his emotion:
Joy.
