We often use while or when to combine a past tense sentence and a past continuous tense
sentence. While is always with the past continuous part of the sentence. When is always with
the past tense part of the sentence. This kind of sentence shows that one action interrupted
                  another action.

The phone rang while I was eating dinner.
I was eating dinner when the phone rang.
I interrupted him while he was studying.
He was studying when I interrupted him.

F1. Combine these pairs of sentences using while. Then combine them using when.
Use the person’s name in the first part of the sentence.
