E ec vely 100% of User Groups of the DFRC are Community/Not for Pro t Groups. In recent years a poten ally bene cial arrangement with the ‘lead’ tenant has not worked out to be as prac cal as the situa on with Joy Anderson Centre. A lead tenant has responsibili es such as cleaning the facility in return for reduced hiring fees.
Throughout the year Council has received several requests for a suitable venue to provide

addi onal child based ac vi es such as playgroups. This facility is perfect for such groups due to its design. As these groups operate during business hours Council has not been able to provide the facility, due to exis ng long-term bookings.
One booking on a weekend for a children’s party was taken; the facility has poten al to a ract more such bookings.
While the facility is structurally in good Condi on, it is old and ‘ red’ looking but could be made a rac ve with a thorough clean, bright pain ng and promo on as a child- friendly venue.
Joy Anderson Centre
The Joy Anderson Centre has User Groups are 100% Community/Not for Pro t Groups. The lead Tenant (Alzheimer’s NT) has the long running occupa on of the centre.
The cra group, a small but dedicated group of ar sts and cra ers, visits during the booking of the lead tenant. This arrangement allows both groups to socialise and compare projects being worked on. Both groups are fee-free.
