PLANNING FOR COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE IN PALMERSTON
The Community Infrastructure Plan is a strategic planning tool used by Council to guide and manage the provision of future Council Community Infrastructure. E ec ve and coordinated planning of Council Community Infrastructure is required to accommodate the rapid urban growth and expansion of Palmerston.
In the context of this Plan, Community Infrastructure includes exis ng and future land and built facili es for which Council has responsibility and through which it delivers community services and programs.
E ec ve planning for Community Infrastructure in Palmerston will ensure that:
Growth areas are su ciently supplied with community infrastructure;
Access to Community infrastructure is as equitable as possible (including exis ng areas); and
Community infrastructure is e ec vely and e ciently con gured so that service providers can respond to changing local community needs over a long me period.
To achieve the above aims, the following outputs will occur from the Plan.
Guide the development, ming, design and loca on of community infrastructure for the life of this plan (2016–2026), being Short Term (0-3 years), Medium Term (3-7 years) and Long Term (7+ years).
Clearly iden fy the services and facili es required for the City of Palmerston’s emerging popula on;
Provide the City of Palmerston with a framework for community infrastructure planning principles and standards for the planning of community infrastructure in all urban areas beyond the life of this plan (10+ years).
