W&RSETA increases outreach to Informal Traders

      n efforts to increase awareness  of the W&RSETA’s programmes and encourage participation of small businesses  in the skills
     Idevelopment processes, the SETA in partnership with the South African Informal Traders Association (SAITA) headed to Bree Taxi Rank
     in Johannesburg to interact with informal traders.
     The key focus of the interaction was to highlight the W&RSETA’s SMME development and support programmes in growing the sector
     and its massive potential to assist the country in dealing with the burgeoning unemployment.

     W&RSETA’s Gauteng South Provincial Manager, Jephrey Nene
     outlined the mandate of the W&RSETA with a specific focus on
     programmes for small businesses. "As informal traders, you are
     one of our important stakeholders and we want to ensure that you
     are capacitated to  run profitable businesses," said Nene.

     SAITA Coordinator, Lulama Mali thanked the W&RSETA for the
     interactions indicating that it was the first time a government        Informal Traders at the session
     organisation has engaged directly with them.



     Small business empowered to thrive at

     2022 South Regional Business Fair



        he W&RSETA participated at the South Regional  Business Fair from 24 to 26 June 2022 at KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre, Umlazi.
     TThe fair aims to create opportunities  for support and development of small businesses  and is a precursor to the largest business
     expo in South Africa, the Durban Business Fair that will be staged in September.
     Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Sdumo Dlamini, officially opened the fair on 24 June 2022 together with the eThekwini
     Municipality Mayor Cllr Mxolisi Kaunda.

                                                                  •  Business Indaba – Youth Empowerment
                                                                  •  Creative Industry Indaba – Durban Film Office

                                                                  •  Makeup & Beauty Masterclass

                                                                      Catering Masterclasses)
     The expo attracted over 13 000 visitors to the SMMEs exhibition
     stands and several sessions on entrepreneurial topics.  The
     W&RSETA used the event to create awareness of its SMME support
