Eleventh ILDP takes off!
he much-anticipated eleventh offering of the W&RSETA’s
Tprestigious International Leadership Development Programme
(ILDP) has taken off.
Following a rigorous selection process, it is a pleasure to
announce that 90 senior leaders from the Wholesale and Retail
Sector will embark on the life transforming journey of leadership
development. The delegates have been divided into two groups:
one on Postgraduate Diploma at NQF level 8 and the other on
the Advanced Diploma at NQF level 7. The 2021/22 ILDP will
comprise of study tours to four international destinations as well as
two African countries in an effort to expose delegates to wholesale
and retail practices. The programme is being implemented by the
Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
Introduced in 2009, the ILDP exposes delegates to best practices
in wholesale and retail locally and internationally through specially
crafted immersions which include interactions with global thought
leaders. Over 350 senior executives have benefited from the
programme.

W&RSETA Marketing and Communications Manager, Martha
Shingange reflected on the ILDP journey which started with only
16 delegates in 2009 and had grown in leaps and bounds.
She further congratulated the delegates for making it to the
programme and thanked the retailers for their continued support.
ILDP Project Manager Sipho Mkhatshwa emphasised the
W&RSETA’s key objective of the ILDP to transform the sector.

A virtual soft launch to introduce the delegates to the faculty and
outline the programme was hosted on 20 June 2022. Corporate
Education Managing Executive Lerato Mahlasela welcomed
the delegates on to the programme and shared GIBS’ strategic
purpose of building responsible leaders. She indicated that
delegates will be exposed to practices that will enable them to
improve their business acumen and sharpen their knowledge of
the sector.
