Facts about the rainforest
• Rainforests cover less than 10% of the
earth's land surface.
• 20% of the world's fresh water is found in
the Amazon Basin.
• In many tropical rainforests, there are no
seasons. The weather is similar all year
round.
• The trees and plants in the rainforests can
be divided into four layers: the forest floor,
the understorey, the canopy layer and
the emergent layer.
