1 John 4:8-10
[ God Is Love ] My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love
comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a
relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing
about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is
how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we
might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we
once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice
to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.

       LOVE TO DIE FOR...

BY CHAD FORT ( TENNESSEE)
I fell sweet on a southern girl fifteen years ago. I don't think I would have to
wonder if I'd be willing to lay my life down for my girl. I just know I would. I'm not
trying to score any points, I just know I love her that much. God has never been
shy about telling us how much He loves us and by sending His only Son into this
very sinful world. His love was greater than sin. Not only did Jesus come into this
world to show us His Father's side, He came to show us how far God was willing
to go to free us from the trap of sin we had gotten ourselves into. Now that's love!
That love didn't have any strings attached to it. I reckon our heavenly Father knew
it would cost Him the very best He had, to rescue the very best He'd created. Only
the life of His Son could pay for the consequences of our disobedience. It's good
to know God felt we were worth rescuing. His was a love to die for!
