P. 2
Whether or not we want to admit it, situations and
circumstances will invite the emergence of a leader.
For example, you walk into a store needing a
particular item. You may begin in the lead role, but
that could quickly switch depending on your depth of
knowledge, your communicative style, or your
individual personality. With weak or inadequate
leadership, the Church would be nothing more than a
sailless ship, wondering about aimlessly. The church
needs strong leaders. However, strong leaders must
know how to be strong followers. In ministry we are
helpers one to another. If you are associated in
ministry for any period of time, you will need help in
order to reach your full leadership potential.
What is leadership? Leadership, in the purest sense of
the Word. is the person who has the influence and
ability to guide and direct people in response to the
vision. True leaders don't have to tell you they're in
charge. You know it through their presence, through
their actions, and through their example. You are
being trusted by God Almighty to watch over His
precious children, not as a lord, but as a caring and
loving shepherd (1 Peter 5:2). The Church is a living
organism and as a living organism, if it is to survive it
must have the components within itself to sustain
itself, feed itself, and reproduce itself. Secondly, every
organism must have a nucleus. In ministry, the
nucleus is composed of the Senior Pastor and
Auxiliary leaders. The nucleus must function as a
singularity guided by God. Again the pattern is one set
in Genesis Chapter 11.
