Important Announcement
For DMV and SoMD; CHS is EXCLUDED
Effective May 11, 2023, the Biden administration ended the COVID-19 national
and public health emergency. As such, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security
(DHS) will terminate the I-9 flexibilities program on July 31, 2023, and new policy
requirements are being put in place. As a reminder, I-9 documentation validates both
an employee’s identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
Under this announcement, to be compliant, MIL will have until August 30, 2023 to
perform all required inspections for employees hired on or after March 20, 2020, who
have since only received virtual or remote I-9 verification.
Please be on the lookout for further communication and information on our updated
process to review the I-9 documentation for all employees and new hires impacted by
the change.
