Why MIL is such a great place to work
By: Richard Hall
I have been with MIL since January 2002. Twenty one years have gone by fast. All of these
years have been on contracts with the U.S. State Department. First with ECA from 2002 to
March 2014 and then Diplomatic Security to the present. Everyone at MIL has been very
helpful and kind to me. They have been patient with me as I have learned new things over
the years. They have even laughed at most of my corny jokes. I could not have asked a
company to be more supportive of me. The best example of that was back in April of 2016.
My wife had a severe heart attack at that time. I needed to be off work initially just to help
get her pull through at the hospital and then at home. MIL was able to advance me leave for
this emergency situation. Then when I asked if it would be possible to work from home for a
time while my wife rehabilitated, MIL went out their way to arrange this with the client, who
was very supportive also. This helped me out so much I could never express it well enough. I
will be forever grateful for this kindness that was shown to me at that time. Almost everyone
I have worked with at MIL has been very kind, supportive, and professional. It has always
been a good sense of team in order to get a job done right. MIL seems to get the best people
for the job. Not just in a work sense but in the personal sense too and that helps make the work environment extremely good.
The top managers I have had over the years like Tedros Birhane, Paul Marshall, and Bonnie Shin have been just terrific to work
for. They have worked with my abilities and have always put me in positions that help the client the most. That is a very key
factor in MIL being as good as they have become, IMO, having management put the right people in the right positions. I have a
few more years to go before I retire and I believe those years will be as good as the last 21.

Mother’s Day raffle & burger burn
The REPS Sector celebrated moms on May 10th by hosting a lunchtime “burger burn” and gift basket raffle to benefit the
Sector’s MIL CARES fund. Although the lucky recipient (or their mom) picked up $150 of gifts designed to make any mom
happy, everyone who attended was a winner since delicious food and fellowship were on the menu!
