DCAA & Floor Checks: The Basics
The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) provides audit and
financial advisory services to the Department of Defense (DoD)
and other federal entities responsible for acquisition and contract
administration. Every year, DCAA reviews contracts of all sizes to
make sure the government and taxpayers get what they are paying
for. Unannounced floor checks are one of DCAA’s methods for realtime audit testing.
Performed un-announced, the floor check:
» Assesses compliance with the established timekeeping internal control and procedures
» Establishes the reliability of an employee’s time records
» Verifies that the employee is actually at work (both on and offsite)
» Ensures that the employee is performing in his/her assigned job classification

» Determines that the employee’s time is charged to the proper cost objectives

(MS) account. Due to compliance regulations, interviews should not be conducted using government
email addresses. We understand you may not have access to MIL’s MS Teams account on your
government issued laptop, so please make sure to download MS Teams on your phone. This will
ensure you have access when needed.

For iOS (Apple devices):

» Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
» Search for “Microsoft Teams” in the search bar.
» Click “Get” to download and install the app.

For Android devices:
» Open the Google Play Store on your Android phone or tablet.

» Search for “Microsoft Teams” in the search bar.
» Click “Install” to download and install the app.

Once you have the app installed, please sign in using your MIL Microsoft Teams credentials.
