Till We Meet Again …
THORMUZIE INDANAN
In December 2017, Thor Indanan wrapped up his six year stint as the Consulate’s Finance Officer – a position
considered as the most challenging one because of New York PCG’s unique role as the DFA’s sole custodian
and remitter of Philippine government funds to all Foreign Service Posts. He also served as Collecting Officer
of the Philippine Center Management Board (PCMB) from September 2011 to February 2015 and acting
Finance Officer of the Philippine Mission to the United Nations from March to July 2013.
His tour of duty in New York was indeed productive as he was instrumental in the completion of the repairs of the Philippine
Center Building in New York as well as the procurement and implementation of the renovation of the Official Residence of the
Consul General and the Philippine Permanent Representative to the UN. He likewise acted in different capacities at the
Consulate, from being a collecting officer, passport processor and encoder, protocol officer to even becoming a driver in select
consular outreaches when the need arose. In recognition of his exemplary accomplishments and contributions to the
Department, the DFA awarded him the Most Outstanding Employee Award in 2017.
Despite the recognition and the huge responsibilities he was saddled with, Thor remained humble and likeable to his
colleagues, who viewed him as a multi-tasker, proactive, and conscientious person and one who always tried to foster unity in
the work place.
Prior to his assignment in New York in 2011, Thor was the Assistant Budget Officer at the DFA’s Office of Fiscal Management.
His previous foreign assignments were at the Philippine Embassies in Bangkok, Thailand (2002-2006) and in Beijing, China
(2006-2008), both as Finance Officer.
Thor is currently assigned in the Home Office at the Office of Fiscal Management and Services (OFMS).
