Consul General De Vega discussed with her Vietnamese
counterpart the thematic priorities for the Philippines’
Chairmanship of ASEAN as well as the commemorative
events marking the 50th Anniversary of the regional
grouping.
They likewise exchanged ideas on possible ASEAN
50th Anniversary commemorative activities to be held in New
York by the different ASEAN Member countries’ Consulates.

views on the ongoing Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN
with the Indian Consul General noting that India greatly
values its being an active Dialogue Partner of the regional
grouping.
Consul General De Vega briefed the Indian Consul General
on the Philippines’ priorities for its ASEAN Chairmanship
along with preparations for the commemoration of the 50th
year of ASEAN. She likewise discussed planned ASEAN
commemorative events in New York.
The Consuls General likewise discussed common consular
concerns within their respective jurisdictions, forthcoming
projects and initiatives, and strengthening cooperation
among members of the consular corps in New York.

counterpart Consul General Jeremiah
Oliver Jitos as part of efforts to develop
closer linkages with other ASEAN
Consul General De Vega and
Consul General Ditos discussed the current state of Philippines
-Malaysia Bilateral Relations and common concerns ranging
from trade, cultural and tourism promotion to issues affecting
their respective overseas communities.
They also spoke about the recent successful Visit of
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to Malaysia in November 2016
and the positive impact of the visit on Philippines-Malaysia
Relations.
The Consuls General likewise discussed the thematic
priorities for the Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN as well
as the commemorative events marking the 50th Anniversary of
the regional grouping. Consul General Dizon-De Vega and
Consul General Jitos agreed to work with other ASEAN
member countries represented in New York to hold a
commemorative event sometime in 2017 to mark the 50th
anniversary of ASEAN.

Consul General Gheewhan Kim, and Japanese Consul General
Reiichiro Takahashi this week to introduce herself as new the
Philippine Consul General as well as to discuss bilateral
relations and the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN.
In her discussions with her Indonesian counterpart, the
two Consuls General agreed to work with other ASEAN
Consulates on a series of commemorative activities marking
the 50th anniversary of ASEAN. They likewise spoke about the
current state of bilateral relations between the Philippines and
Indonesia as well as the thematic priorities of the Philippines’
ASEAN Chairmanship.
Consul General Dizon-De Vega and Consul General
Jailani likewise agreed to strengthen consular cooperation and
