At over 90 years of age, Margaret lives at home independently with support from her family and enjoys a weekly social outing with Sue, her Community Support Professional from Just Better Care.
Margaret loves the beach; watching the waves roll and crash onto the sand, and the feeling of the cool water against her skin. She loves the sound of children’s laughter as they build sandcastles and chase seagulls.
For Margaret, a day at the beach is the perfect outing, improved by a lunch of fish and chips. She likes to head out once a week, assisted by her now companion and Just Better Care Support Professional, Sue.
And every now and then, to feed Margaret’s sense of adventure, Sue takes her for drives high into the hills, beyond where she lives. Margaret loves to get outside and see the world around her, and Sue is happy to oblige.
“I love Australian beaches. They’re less crowded and so peaceful. Not to mention it’s much warmer here than where I grew up in the UK,” Margaret laughs.
“It was the perfect day you wish for when you’re daydreaming about summer – warm weather and the sky was clear. It was lovely despite the seagulls trying to pinch our fish and chips! It was brilliant, Sue from Just Better Care and I are already planning our next outing to the beach.”
