Marianne’s story –
Just Better Care Geelong Marianne recognised early in her working life that helping senior Australians live their best life brought her a lot of joy.
She first experienced working alongside the elderly shortly after undertaking an enrolled nursing traineeship, where she worked in a residential aged care facility.
“This is where I first found the love of working with the elderly and assisting them in their everyday lives. After completing my enrolled nurse training, I went back to university and completed my registered nursing degree whilst working as an enrolled nurse. In my graduate year,
I worked at Epworth Hospital in plastic surgery, orthopaedic and rehabilitation wards,” she says.
Following stints in various hospitals where she worked in several emergency departments, as well as in residential aged
care, the 46-year-old then found herself working as a Care Manager across three residential aged care facilities in Geelong. A six months tenure working as an Acting Facility Manager followed.
Today, Marianne is the Franchise Owner and Managing Director behind the award-winning Just Better Care Geelong, alongside her husband Sam who works in the business as a Support Worker and Finance Officer.
Marianne purchased the Just Better Care Geelong franchise territory in 2021. Her strategic decision to work closely with customer-referring allied health professionals resulted in the business growing exponentially under her stewardship, and her efforts being recognised at the Just Better Care Possible Awards.
Marianne says she is grateful for every day she gets to go to work and that her vast nursing experience helps her keep perspective.
“I have never lost the feeling that helping people who need and want assistance is the most important way I can spend my life.”
