Introduction







               In the broader scope of understanding both at the personal as well
               as the global scene, poverty seems to creep in quietly. It is a menace
               that  has  gained  a  lot  of  attention  particularly  in  the  “developing
               world” and has been the point of discussion in many governments
               on how to alleviate the pain and the resultant effect.


                Poverty, informs many topics of discussion at global forums to try
               and make it easier and clearer to not only determine its root cause
               but also possible avenues to control its consequences. Vast research
               attributes  poverty  to  mega  socio-economic  and  political  lapses;
               poor governance, inadequate resources, high levels of illiteracy and
               over population just to mention a few. The phenomenon deprives
               many of both human dignity and in extreme circumstances the loss
               of countless lives.


               While the above may be disputed by variousschools of thought; it is
               appropriate for the body of Christ to understand the “truth” of the
               matter to avoid deceptive doctrines covered with half-truths that
