And no, this isn’t merely a case of mistaking correlation for causation.

Study after study after study has found that women are more attracted to guys—
in many of the studies, the exact same guy —when he’s shown with other
attractive women. In one study, even pointing a side-on picture of a woman’s
face at a front-on picture of a guys face made women perceive him to be more

attractive. See Figure 3 for a (poorly) illustrated example of how the study was
conducted.
