            PERIOD (1736-1795)
            The vase is carved in relief on each broad side with a pair
            of archaistic kui phoenix and a band of upright petals
            above the foot, the neck flanked by a pair of elephant
            heads with loose ring handles, the side of the foot incised
            with a Qianlong fanggu mark in a horizontal line. The
            cover is surmounted by a finial in the form of a elephant
            standing foursquare above clouds. The stone is of an
            even, greenish-white tone.
