            LATE QING DYNASTY, LATE 18TH-19TH
            CENTURY

Each cylinder is decorated with registers of taotie masks
rendered in various styles, divided by undulating borders
between the similarly decorated waisted foot neck.
The two cylinders are joined by a gilt-bronze eagle with
reticulated outstretched wings standing on a fearsome
crouched mythical beast. The reverse is connected by
the scrolling tail of the beast, below a ferocious chilong.
