This painting belongs to a seven-painting set of the Shakyamuni Buddha Himalayan Art Resource (himalayanart.org), item no. 520
with the Sixteen Great Arhats. At upper left is Vajradhara and at middle
right, fanking Kanakavatsa, is Milarepa. The small fgures of Indian monks and scholars at the top left of the
painting belong to the group known as the Six Ornaments and Two
Excellent Ones of the Southern Continent.
