AN UNUSUAL WHITE-OVERLAY PINK GLASS SNUFF
BOTTLE
1800-1880
The translucent white overlay is carved through to the semi-
transparent pink ground on both sides with eight horses beside a
pine tree and rocky ledges.

no. 5160.
The bottle is decorated on each side with a raised circular panel
enclosing a scene of boys at play. One depicts fve boys playing 綠地描金粉彩開光嬰戲圖鼻煙壺
musical instruments, and the other depicts four boys carrying
auspicious objects including a ruyi scepter, a chime, and a vase with
a rose, all reserved on a greenish-turquoise ground molded with
chrysanthemum scrolls picked out in gilt.
