A RED-OVERLAY ‘SNOWSTORM’
GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE
PROBABLY PALACE WORKSHOPS,
1770-1840
The bottle is carved through the
transparent red overlay to the bubble-
sufused ground on either side with a
chilong entwined with an archaistic bi-disc.

The frst parcel-gilt silver bottle, 1760-1830,
is decorated on each side with a leaping
dragon roundel surrounded by openwork
scrolling tendrils repeated on the foot. The
second bottle, 1750-1840, is decorated on
each side with a shou character-medallion
encircled by the wufu, and on the shoulders
with mask-and-ring handles.
