This carefully carved soapstone image of White Tara is among
very few published examples of soapstone Buddhist fgures. Her
narrow waist, beaded jewelry, and ribbon-tied foliate crown are
of a seventeenth-century style, as evidenced by similarities to lot
661 of this sale.
