           The immortal finely attired in elegant robes, with a gentle expression   Crisply carved as a lady Immortal standing with a blossoming flower in
           beneath an elaborate coiffure, the head tilting to rest on the handle   her left hand and a basket overflowing with peaches on her right hand,
           of the large peach-filled flower basket carried in the left arm, the right   a sprig of peaches spilling over the exquisitely detailed basket held in
           hand holding a lingzhi in front of the chest, a long-tailed phoenix   the hands of a small boy by her side, the stone of pale green tone.
           standing on one leg with its crest against the basket and tail sweeping   11cm (4 1/3in) high.

                                                             The lady carrying a basket of peaches may be identified as Magu,
           十八世紀 青玉雕麻姑獻壽擺件                                    the Daoist Goddess of Longevity, also known as ‘Hemp Lady’. She
                                                             is generally depicted as a young female holding a basket of life-
           The present carving of Magu is imbued with symbols such as the   granting peaches, or a jar containing the elixir of longevity, and is often
           phoenix and lingzhi, identifying and emphasising her as the Goddess of  accompanied either by a young servant boy or a spotted deer.
