           Spring and Autumn/Warring States Period
           With elongated body and bifurcated tail, carved on
           both sides with fins and detailed scales, 5.4cm (2
           1/8in) long; together with an early oatmeal-coloured
           jade pendant, Warring States period, of indented
           rectangular form decorated with ‘C’-scroll designs,
           10.5cm (4 1/8in) long. (2).

           the Illustrated Catalogue of Ancient Jade Artifacts in

           similar rectangular jade pendant, excavated from a
           Chu burial at Xiasi, Xichuan, Henan Province, Spring
           and Autumn period, is illustrated by Yin Zhiqiang
           and Ding Bangjun, Jades of the Eastern Chou and
           Wu C’hu Dynasties, Taipei, 1993, pp.104-105,
           no.106.

           Han Dynasty
           Boldly detailed with almond-shaped eyes and gently
           raised spine, an aperture drilled through the back,
           the stone of pale buff colour accented with darker   9
           streaks and finished with a lustrous polish, box.
