                                                             A RARE GILT-BRONZE BEAR-SHAPED SUPPORT
                                                             Han Dynasty
                                                             The hollow-cast bear crouching with both forepaws resting on the
                                                             hips, the head with short muzzle, wide staring eyes and rounded ears,
                                                             the upper part of the reverse cast open with a horizontal projection
                                                             behind the head. 4.5cm (1 3/4in) high.

                                                             Formed of two separate parts, modelled facing forward, with alert
                                                             expression defined by pricked ears, detailed nostrils and eyes, arched
                                                             neck and mouth open in a whinny expression, with traces of coloured
