                                                                           The vessel with a rounded body of oval section
                                                                           over an oval foot, rising to an everted rim extending
                                                                           at one end for pouring, the opposite end set with
                                                                           a scrolling loop handle, the exterior sides each
                                                                           carved with a central band of ‘C’-scroll designs, the
                                                                           pale green stone flecked with brown and cloudy
                                                                           inclusions. 12cm (4 6/8in) wide.

                                                                           flowering branches encircling the body and forming
                                                                           the handle and base, the interior of the flower head
                                                                           carved to simulate overlapping petals, the stone with
                                                                           areas of creamy and mushroom coloured inclusions.

                                                                           A RARE PALE GREEN JADE ‘MYTHICAL
                                                                           BEAST’ WATERPOT
                                                                           Ming Dynasty
                                                                           Finely carved as a gongfu, known as one of the
                                                                           dragon’s nine sons, carved in crouching position
                                                                           with ears and horns flicking back as though
                                                                           preparing to pounce on its prey, rendered with an
                                                                           elongated torso flanked by a flame-like tendrils,
                                                                           terminating in a bifurcated tail with curling ends, the
                                                                           interior well hollowed, the stone of pale green tone.
