8002 The basin is well potted with deep, slightly tapered sides rising to a flared
rim, and finely painted in brilliant cobalt-blue with extensive ‘heaping
AN IMPORTANT AND EXTREMELY and piling’ on the flat base of the interior with a central florette enclosed
RARE BLUE AND WHITE BASIN within a roundel from which radiates six ruyi-shaped petals divided by
foliate sprigs, all within a classic-scroll border.The steep well is encircled
YONGLE PERIOD (1402-1425) by a composite floral scroll bearing six blossoms, including lotus, gardenia,
chrysanthemum, camellia, peony and hibiscus, the undulating stem with
明永樂 青花纏枝四季花卉紋折沿洗 leaves corresponding to each flower, all below a band of crashing waves
at the rim.The exterior is similarly painted with a composite floral
HK$12,000,000-18,000,000 scroll bearing eight blossoms, all within double-line borders and below
US$1,600,000-2,300,000 detached floral sprays.The unglazed base reveals the smooth white ware
with a light speckling of orange tone.
