Sturdily potted in the form of an alm’s bowl, the jar is painted to the 㩴⻦ᙔ⁒Ⅷݥ㫀 㬪Ɽ㞏ㅏ⡚ Ӵ Ƿ卿㲞ᳰ卿
exterior in bright shades of cobalt blue to depict three five-clawed dragons, ჺ卿㮰 卿எ ǯऔࣻ⩠Ӭ։Գ㪏㬪Ɽ㫡䂆⡠⦵卿⭬㛑⥾
each chasing a flaming pearl amidst flames and cloud scrolls, all above 㫡䂆卿ऑᯒࣿ㘆㑷⽔㱈ᱡ᭢⡠卿Ὅ㋏ᆨǮཨ༿Ꮅ⡠㱈⎐⯝

Jars potted in the shape of alm's bowls were evidently produced in the
Yongzheng and Qianlong reigns. See one blue and white example made during
the Yongzheng reign from the Qing Court Collection, illustrated in The Complete
Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 36 - Blue and White Porcelain with
Underglazed Red (III), Hong Kong, 2010, p. 125, no. 111. Also see a Qianlong period
blue and white 'dragon' jar of similar form, size and decoration to the present lot,
also painted around the mouth and foot rims with crashing waves, illustrated in
