RETICULATED ‘DEER’ PLAQUE
LIAO – JIN DYNASTY
skilfully rendered in openwork depicting a
recumbent deer with its head turned backwards
and hind legs neatly tucked beneath its body,
framed by two lingzhi blooms, jagged rockwork
and a trunk issuing clusters of leaves, the stone
of a pale celadon colour with russet inclusions
concentrating near the base
