QING DYNASTY, 17TH – 18TH
CENTURY
the semicircular pebble skillfully modelled in the
form of a recumbent mythical beast, its lowered
head detailed with a pointed nose and almond-
shaped eyes beneath curled eyebrows, the
arched segmented spine terminating in a bushy
tail buried underneath the body, its front paws
held tightly together and pierced for attachment,
the jade of an even white tone suffused with
russet veins

rear haunches, its head perched atop the front
paws, detailed with round eyes, a long snout and
kidney-shaped ears, the stone of an attractive
even celadon-white tone with russet veins
