A HARDWOOD STATIONARY BOX, BAITIE HE
18th century
Of rectangular form, the corners applied with metal ruyi mounts,
the two short sides flanked with metal bracket handles attached to
scallop-edged mounts, the cover held with two long hinges to the
interior concealing a detachable tray with various compartments
around a large rectangular panel, the well-figured wood, possibly
padouk or huali, of light brown tone.
